What’s New for 2008
WRX STI is a 5-door-only model.
Performance-directed design features widebody
front fenders and rear quarter panels,
body-color STI-design bumper fascias,
functional front fascia brake cooling scoops,
and side engine heat outlets and aerodynamic
ground effects side molding.
Dual Active Valve Control System (Dual
AVCS) variable valve timing controls both
intake and exhaust valves (vs. intakes-only on
2007 model). Engine produces 305
horsepower @ 6,000 rpm (+12 over 2007
model) and 290 lb.-ft. of peak torque @ 4,000
rpm (400 rpm earlier than previous model);
Federal Bin 5 / Tier 2 – California Lev2
emissions certification.
New, stiffer platform contributes to even better
handling and enhances crash-worthiness.
Longer wheelbase improves interior roominess
and ride refinement.
Sophisticated double-wishbone rear suspension
with STI designed components enhances
driving dynamics.
High-tension steel reinforcements at key
structural and suspension-mounting points.
Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) with three
driver-selectable modes, including “Off.”
Incline Start Assist can momentarily prevent
the vehicle from rolling backward when being
driven away from a stop on an incline.
Standard wheels are 18x8.5-in. 5-spoke castalloy.
Optional wheels are 18x8.5-in. BBS®
forged-alloy. All 18-in. wheels use Dunlop SP
Sport 600 Summer 245/40R18 93W tires.

Brake Assist safety system.
Higher-quality interior materials, including
double-stitched fabrics and high-grade plastics.
