Hailed as one of rally’s most Iconic drivers, Scottish national Colin McRae was a true embodiment of the sport. Born in 1968 in Lanark, Scotland, Colin soon found interest in motorsports and was fond of going fast, following his father’s footsteps, Jimmy McRae, who was a five-time British Rally Champion. Colin would soon cement his name in rally history as the first Scottish person and the youngest to win the World Rally Championship drivers’ title.
With 25 victories in the WRC, he ranks fifth among drivers with the most wins in WRC history. His name became synonymous with Subaru and helped spread the car manufacturer’s popularity when he won the World Rally Championship Manufacturers’ title 3 times in a row in 1995,1996, and 1997. In 1996 he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for his services to motorsport.
