North America last hosted a round of the World Rally Championship back in 1988, but that may change as soon as 2026. Following a demonstration rally in Tennessee in September 2023, Rally USA’s Stuart Wood says another event is scheduled for the weekend of 14-16 June, and this will mimic a WRC event schedule in certain areas. If that goes well, Rally USA is targeting a candidate rally in 2025, reports Motorsport.com, and if that also has a positive outcome, the event could find a home on the 2026 WRC calendar.
“It’s not a certainty at the moment, but the event in June will be a stepping stone towards that, and then the goal will be to be observed and it be able to be on the calendar in ’26 or ’27, but that’s what we’re looking at.”
