The Subaru Airslayer was a wicked machine. Based on a 2020 WRX STI rallycross car, it featured an 862-hp turbocharged flat-four, a flame-spitting exhaust that exited through the hood, and it also set a lap record at our annual Lightning Lap event last year. Now, Subaru has revealed a sequel to the Airslayer called Project Midnight, which will make its racing debut later this week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Unlike its predecessor, Project Midnight was born from the current-generation Subaru WRX. However, it continues to be a collaboration between Subaru’s U.S. motorsports’ team and Vermont SportsCar. Project Midnight was also specifically designed to be as quick and as fast as possible on tarmac, with its main mission being outright speed.
