If light off-roading capabilities and all-weather performance land high on your list of automotive needs, you’re probably already considering a Subaru. The Outback and Forester are among the most popular models in the automaker’s lineup, and they both tick a lot of boxes. Despite being similar in size and offering nearly identical features, the Outback and Forester occupy different segments. The Outback is closely related to the Subaru Legacy sedan and takes the form of a station wagon with a raised ride height, while the Forester is a taller and boxier compact SUV. 2025 marks the final year of the current sixth-generation Outback before it receives a redesign for the 2026 model year. The Forester was completely redesigned for 2025.
