Subaru is gearing up to launch its second electric vehicle at the 2025 New York Auto Show this week, and while it’s largely a mystery, we do know what the new EV SUV will be named: it’s going to be called the 2026 Subaru Trailseeker.
The name itself is enormously suggestive — it’s certainly more adventurous than “Solterra,” the name of Subaru’s first electric vehicle — so we fully expect to see a design backed up with engineering that should make this EV a competent off-pavement partner. How serious of an off-roader will it be? That’s still TBD, but the one teaser image provided by Subaru shows the Trailseeker in a sandy, mountainous environment, suggesting it will be at least as much at home off the beaten path as the Crosstrek, Outback, Forester and Ascent.
