Ken Block is a person whose legacy is only going to grow with age. As the creator of the famed Hoonigan and DC brands, he’s propelled alternative sports into the mainstream, even if he was constantly battling his fair share of criticism.
Block started at a professional level in 2005 with a strong start in Rally America driving a Subaru WRX STI prepared by Vermont SportsCar. He placed well and got Rookie of the Year, then, as a result of that, went on to get a sponsorship deal with Subaru. Block carried on rallying and also competed in the first XGames rallycross event in 2006, but besides marginal success in the Global Rallycross Championship and Rally America over the next decade, he wasn’t able to make a name for himself racing.
