We rode shotgun for a few laps in the new, more powerful 2022 Subaru BRZ. From the passenger seat, it’s still a charmer. Whether you love Subaru’s cars or not, you have to love Subaru. Sure, they’re funkily styled and typically not the best on gas, but there’s real joy and love in Subaru’s cars, put there by the people who make them—people who are clearly enthusiasts. How else could Subaru justify coming out with… Read More →

Travis Pastrana is stepping into Ken Block’s driver seat for the next installment of the Gymkhana series, and he’s got a uniquely modified Subaru WRX STI to do the job. Subaru worked with Vermont SportsCar to build the car specifically to do exciting things on video, rather than needing to comply with any racing series’ rules. Subaru isn’t offering too many technical details about the Gymkhana WRX STI. The company confirms that it uses a… Read More →

The current Subaru WRX was introduced back in 2014 and is feeling a bit long in the tooth based on its rough NVH, stiff ride, and dated interior. These spy shots we just snapped reveal that Subaru’s not sleeping on the job, though. This is our first glimpse of the 2022 Subaru WRX that’s due to arrive next year. Read More →

The tenth Gymkhana film was released a bit over a year ago to great fanfare. Ken Block has been releasing these automotive shenanigans videos since 2008’s iconic Gymkhana Practice was uploaded to YouTube. That original video has over 16 million views and it knocked me square on my ass when I first saw it. After having done pretty much everything in a car in pretty much every locale you could want to all over the world, Ken… Read More →

Turning the key has become an act of faith. As the engine grumbles to life on this fine southwest Colorado morning, the yellow check-engine light comes on, as it has every day for the past four years, and the same questions swirl in my mind. Is this the day that tiny head-gasket leak turns into a gusher? Is this the day the catalytic converter chokes closed for good? Is this the day that one speck… Read More →

Subaru Corp on Monday posted a 15.7% rise in annual operating profit in the year that ended in March as it recovered from a raft of product recalls last year, but warned that sales of its cars would take a hit from the coronavirus outbreak. Profit rose to 210.3 billion yen ($1.96 billion) for the year just ended, from 181.7 billion yen a year earlier under international financial reporting standards. It exceeded a consensus estimate… Read More →

The Impreza is, in large part, responsible for the boom in younger people in the early 2000s getting into JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) cars. It was the first highly desired JDM car to be sold here and it caused other manufacturers like Mitsubishi to follow suit and start offering similarly equipped vehicles. Since those early days, the Impreza has spawned almost nothing but excellent editions that allow you to enjoy speed and handling at a… Read More →

It’s the middle of Betws-y-Coed late on a Wednesday morning of Rally GB week and Sebastien Ogier is waiting patiently in traffic. Curiously, the six-time World Rally champion is moving through this most beautiful of Welsh towns totally unmolested. Nobody’s given him or his motor a second glance. Let’s face it, in this rally friendly part of the world, there’s nothing enormously unusual about a bloke wearing a Citroen T-shirt driving a dirty-white Subaru WRX… Read More →
