For modern race car drivers, being in top physical condition is part of a winning strategy. Long gone are days of debauchery between the race weekends; today’s top drivers are some of the most well-conditioned athletes in the world, even though their “sport” includes sitting in a seat and turning a steering wheel while tickling gas, brake and clutch pedals. Not exactly a decathlon, but as with most things in life, being in good physical… Read More →

Nothing sells crossovers and SUVs in America like outdoorsy-sounding names, even if the vehicle itself isn’t great off-road. Trailhawk, Trail Boss, Pathfinder, Badlands—they’re all kickass, adventurous-sounding names. Sure, most of us work in office buildings but our ruggedly named crossovers and Stanley water bottles tell the world that we really belong in the wild. Good news for all of you adventure-chasers because Subaru just trademarked 12 new outdoorsy names that could hint at either some… Read More →

This may just be the rarest you’ll see this week. It’s a Subaru FF-1 – sometimes called the Star in the US market. Subaru sold thousands of them in the early 1970s, in Europe and the US, as part of its expansion into new markets. Then they all just disappeared into neglected, rusty piles. This little coupe has been saved, however, and its story is the genesis of Subaru as we know it. Jamie and… Read More →

The Tesla Cybertruck isn’t shaping up to be the game-changer Tesla made it out to be. From owners getting less than the advertised range to baffling features that’ll make you wonder how this thing got approved for what’s being called production, the Cybertruck sure is…something. Tesla bills the Cybertruck as “Durable and rugged enough to go anywhere.” You’ll “Tackle anything with electronically adaptive air suspension that offers 12” of travel and 17” of clearance.” And… Read More →

When Subaru first came to the United States, it sold small funky cars that were decidedly un-American. As the company grew its own identity and became more established in the U.S., it became the first automaker to offer an all-wheel-drive passenger car in 1975. Subaru was also an early-adopter of turbocharged engines to bring more power to its line of quirky cars and wagons. Subaru was also one of the first manufacturers to produce a… Read More →

The Chevrolet El Camino and Ford Ranchero were the first vehicles to populate a segment of the auto world known loosely as the “coupe utility.” As their popularity grew in the 1960s and ’70s and other compact pickup trucks began to enter the U.S. market, Subaru decided to throw its BRAT, er, hat, into the ring. The Japanese automaker took its Leone station wagon, chopped off the back of it, fitted it with a pickup… Read More →

The original WRX TR launched in 2006 as a stripped-down, minimalist trim aimed at buyers who planned to start modding their cars the day they got home from the dealership. The moniker stood for “Tuner Ready,” and the TR went without a rear spoiler, fog lights, or a fancy stereo. Why include a nice sound system that’ll immediately be replaced by a sweet Pioneer OEL head unit with a swimming-dolphin display and a Rockford amp… Read More →

You could be excused for thinking that Subaru unveiled a real-life UFO at last month’s Japan Mobility Show. Suspended in mid-air above Subaru’s electric Sport Mobility Concept car was a strange-looking half-drone, half-hovercraft resembling contraption called the ‘Air Mobility Concept.’ And it certainly raised eyebrows as Subaru took license with the newly renamed ‘Mobility Show’ (which used to be the Tokyo Motor Show) to offer a different form of mobility to that normally displayed —… Read More →

Subaru pulled the wraps off its 2025 Forester during the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show. Big claims of “all-newness” get thrown around with abandon, but the 2025 Subaru Forester does have new sheetmetal, a stiffer chassis, and a bigger infotainment screen in its redesigned interior. You’ll be able to choose from five trim levels when it gets to dealers: base, Premium, Sport, Limited and Touring, and we expect a Wilderness trim and a hybrid option… Read More →

Photos of the new 2025 Subaru Forester have surfaced online ahead of its formal unveiling at the Los Angeles motor show late next week. A gallery of 49 images posted to Imgur and social media website Reddit shows all angles of the sixth-generation Forester – the first new model since 2018, expected to be a ‘reskin’ of its predecessor rather than an all-new vehicle. Australian arrival timing is expected to be announced after Subaru unveils… Read More →
