Back in 1997, Prodrive built the first Subaru Impreza of the WRC era, which took over from Group A in the World Rally Championship. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the WRC97 that Colin McRae, Piero Liatti and Kenneth Eriksson all drove to the 1997 Manufacturers’ title, the same company in Banbury produced what it claims is a road-going version of a WRC Impreza. OY, PIONEERS! Please tell me you’re not taking the average compact crossover wagon into the boonies. The salesperson might have told you it had all-wheel drive, and it probably does, sort of. But such systems are often surprisingly feeble off road. In December, Subaru of America increased its car sales in the United States for the 17th consecutive month to 57,764 (up 1.8% year-over-year). In 2023, the company sold 632,083 cars, which is 13.6% more than a year ago. Subaru Corporation (FUJHY) ended the recent trading session at $8.99, demonstrating a +0.11% swing from the preceding day’s closing price. The stock’s change was more than the S&P 500’s daily loss of 0.8%. Elsewhere, the Dow lost 0.76%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 1.18%. Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) today reported 17 consecutive months of increased sales with 57,764 vehicles sold for December 2023, a 1.8 percent increase compared with December 2022 (56,760).
