Although the marketing folks claim the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek has been completely redesigned, there isn’t exactly a night-and-day difference next to its predecessor. Fear not, however: it’s still a Crosstrek, just better. Subaru simply took its best-selling vehicle and made it a bit quieter, a bit more comfortable, and a tad more capable. Read More →

Subaru has long been a relatively small automaker building products for niche markets. It’s been well-documented how the company, decades ago, specifically targeted certain demographics, becoming wildly popular and inspiring serious owner loyalty. They have done an incredible job doing so, but some more mainstream buyers may still not have the brand front of mind when shopping. Read More →

This is basically Subaru of America’s “Bat Cave.” Just like Batman’s lair, it’s hidden and full of goodies. It’s a plain building that could be anything — maybe a factory or warehouse. But, inside Subaru’s Bat Cave is a collection of rare and unique cars that isn’t accessible to the public or even most media, but marks the company’s history both here and outside of the U.S. Subaru’s American history isn’t as well-known as some… Read More →

My first car was a 2003 Volkswagen Passat. It was, without a doubt, an irredeemable heap of crap. But it was also a gateway drug. With a torquey turbocharged engine and a manual transmission, I can’t help but think of my first dose of turbocharged fun when I drive the Subaru WRX. Obviously, the two cars have nothing in common except a turbocharger and a gear lever, but humans aren’t always the most logical creatures.… Read More →

The U.S. state of Indiana could well become the most-favoured location for Subaru (7270.T) to establish an electric vehicle production site in the world’s biggest economy, the Japanese automaker’s chief executive said. Subaru sees the years to 2028 as a key period for building up its EV sales so that it will eventually hit an annual sales target of 600,000 battery-powered vehicles by 2030 that will make up half of its global sales. Subaru built the reputation of its STI division by spending years on the top spot of the World Rally Championship (WRC) podium. The brand exited WRC in 2008 and hasn’t been back since, but it’s reportedly considering a comeback with help from partner and part-owner Toyota. “It’s not a secret I had a good meeting with Mr. Akio Toyoda, and I ask [sic] him what we can do [about enticing more manufacturers into the WRC]… Read More →

Subaru’s potential return to the FIA World Rally Championship is exciting and would boost the series, which has been lacking an extra manufacturer since Citroen pulled out in 2019. Subaru has a successful history in the WRC, with numerous wins and championships, and their comeback could mean the continuation of popular road models like the Impreza WRX. The chances of Subaru returning to the WRC are looking likely, with Toyota actively supporting the brand and… Read More →

The World Rally Championship currently uses Rally1 regulations. The cars employ spaceframe chassis with silhouette bodies, so it would be straightforward for Subaru to build a competitor. While there is no firm indication of which model it could use as a basis for its entry, the current WRX is the obvious choice. The current model is quite bulky, but there’s nothing stopping Subaru from scaling and tweaking the bodyshell to suit WRC competition. Read More →
